Start with Research
If a tiny home concept is new to you, it is better to invest some time in research. You can check out the FAQs page to start. You should know about your local, county, and state laws and regulations that might be applicable to tiny homes. You can also explore our past projects. We have completed several unique projects of custom home builds that can give you some inspiration. If you like our work and wish to test before placing your order, you can book your overnight stay at one of our tiny homes via Airbnb. This enables you to get the real feel of it.
Visit Our Workshop
Once you have done your research, many people visit our workshop to start with the process. We offer you the opportunity to have a one-on-one session lasting 30 minutes with us. During this period, you have the opportunity to view any custom tiny home builds currently at our workshop. A guided tour of our workshop, showcasing the ongoing work, is also provided. This time allows you to inquire about tiny homes and our projects. Secure your workshop tour by filling out the form at the bottom of the page. Click here to scroll down. For those at a distance or unable to visit in person, we offer the option to schedule a virtual walk-through tour and address your queries over the phone via zoom.
Book Your Build Spot
Due to a substantial demand for build spots, we only accept a limited number of custom build orders annually to uphold our quality standards. To prevent any disappointment, we recommend promptly securing your reservation for a custom build. Reservations can be made for up to 8 months. Secure your build spot by submitting a booking request. A 3% down payment is necessary to reserve a build spot and initiate the design phase.
Keeping You Informed
Once you develop your partnership with our company, we give you access to ‘Jobtread,’ a project management software that we use to keep you informed about the project progress. It offers several advantages for our clients. As we move forward, you can see your build’s progress, get updates, plans, photos, and the schedule of the build, and more. But initially, we use it as a tool for messaging, which keeps all our communications and documents secure in one place.
Mutual Agreement on the Brief
At this stage, the fun begins. To develop your custom tiny house build, you can put together all your ideas to create a design brief. You can base it on one of our existing tiny house builds or can make a combination of different designs or something unique. Once we get an idea of what you wish to accomplish, our designers estimate the required number of hours for producing custom build plan sets.
Start of Custom Design Work
The design work starts in due course. We present a preliminary design layout at first to the client. Plus, we do 1 to 2 revisions according to your feedback. We send a preliminary design invoice to the client at this stage. Once you approve the final design and feel satisfied, our team then finalizes the nitty-gritty details of the project like electrical plans and lighting, materials and colors, and detailing of construction. This stage involves lots of back and forth communication throughout. Once the design completes, we send you the final design invoice.
Provide a Free Quote
Undoubtedly, you’ll love the final design! When it’s entirely according to your idea, we move to a quoting stage. Source pricing of different materials required for your unique custom build project can take up to 4 weeks. So during this time, you may not hear from us much. Once we gather all the required prices, we provide you an estimated detailed price quote for review. We may include a variations section in your quote, which includes significant ticket components such as appliances, solar, or anything which you’re not sure to include due to pricing. Then, you can either reject or accept our quote and sign it.
Accepting and Signing the Quote
If you agree to our quote, we issue a building contract for you two months before the project start date. We also provide you with copies of our trade terms, your build plans, and various other relevant documents. Once you go through it and possibly take legal counsel, you need to return us signed documents. Then, we’ll also sign these documents and send you a scanned copy for your record. Our work starts with a schedule of the progress payment. We request you to make a 30% of payment deposit 6 weeks before the project start date. Based on your build progress, we then set 2 more progress payments of 30% as set milestones. Upon project completion, we take 10% final payment before delivery/pickup. You can request us to make changes to your plan; however, for us, this is variation. It means variation fees apply to it.
Start of Construction
As we move forward towards the start of your tiny home build project, we order some big-ticket items such as framing, trailer, and siding. It prepares us for the ‘D’ day. We break down the build process into three phases. With the completion of tasks, we move your build according to the schedule. You can view all this through Co-Construct. We invite you to inspect your custom build at each completion stage, or you can take an appointment to visit us anytime, or we can schedule a ‘Zoom’ video call for you. We then request you a 30% progress payment. You can check out more information on the ‘our materials’ page about the construction part.
Addition to Our Custom Build Portfolio
Once we finish any custom tiny home build project, we love to document all the hard work we poured into its construction. We thoroughly clean it inside out. Then, we embellish it with exquisite furnishings to refine its appearance. We do a fantastic photoshoot with the help of our professional photographers. We also create a walk-through video of the complete home to capture and show its features.
Ready to be ‘All Yours’
As your custom build reaches its finishing stage, we discuss delivery options with you. There are different delivery options available. You can do it yourself, or we can provide assistance. It is also to arrange insurance before delivery or pickup.
We conduct a handover meeting before finally handing it over to you. This is to show you how everything in your tiny custom home built works. You can then sign that you’re satisfied with everything and make your remaining final payment of 10%. We give you a handover pack along with all items warranties and final weight details of your home. You get the keys, and we say goodbye. However, we are always available for your help whenever you need it. You can view our work to see what our clients say about us and our work.
